The Rio Olympic Games are coming to an end and Liège Airport can boast that it contributed to the success of certain horse events. The connection? Before and after the event, an exceptional air bridge linked Liège and Rio. No fewer than 250 horses took off from Liège to the Brazilian city, where they took part in horse competitions. In total, there were seven flights: five for the Olympics and two subsequent flights for the Paralympics.

These horses came from Belgium, but also France, Spain, Sweden and even Russia. 33 different federations and 12 nationalities of horses passed through Liège airport.

Liège airport is famous for its air transport of horses. In 2015, they managed the transit of nearly 3,000 horses. Since last May, these animals now enjoy even better accommodation due to the opening of the "Horse Inn", a genuine inn for horses with 55 boxes.
