CMI (Cockerill Maintenance & Ingénierie), always looking for innovation, will in the very near future cover 5 of its storehouses located in Seraing with photovoltaic panels. As a global player in steam generation for 200 years, this EUR 10 million investment, known as MIRIS project, strengthens the Liege-based company’s expertise.
Energy transition is currently occurring worldwide. Our world is changing and is tending towards a more sustainable, flexible, green and human-sized environment. CMI is part of this change by launching this reinforced energy storage system. Moreover, as CMI is present in 23 countries, this kind of battery will arrive just in time in Africa and Asia, where mini-networks could become autonomous.
CMI Energy Storage is currently building the largest European industrial pilot of energy storage at its industrial site of Seraing. 6500 photovoltaic panels with two kinds of flow batteries and lithium-ion batteries that will allow a total energy storage of 4 Megawatts but also to have a suitable solution for all situations. Indeed, batteries will be able to store green energy in order to reuse it even if there is no sun or wind. This investment gives work to Enersol, the Battice-based company that installs the panels and creates dozens of jobs.
