It’s the hustle and bustle in Mont-Saint-Guibert, in the Walloon Brabant, where the head office of the new Belgian air company, Air Belgium, is located. On 3rd March it declared it has obtained the Holy Grail of aviation: a flight licence.
The Directorate-General of Air Transport (DGAT) , supervisory and regulatory body for air transport in Belgium, granted the Air operator’s certificate (AOC) to the regular Belgian long-haul company.
This licence, compulsory for any airline company, demonstrates their ability to provide safe and responsible air traffic services. It means that Air Belgium, which will handle direct flights between Belgium and Asia from mid-April, will start to sell its tickets in the next few days.
