L'Oréal Libramont, which specialises in the manufacture of haircare products, has just been awarded the "Industry of the Future" label by the Agence du Numérique.
The Libramont factory, which invests several million euros each year on modernisation, has become a benchmark in the fields of sustainable development, new technologies, organisation and training.
This is the first time that the Factory of the Future Awards ceremony (online this year) has honoured a company from the chemical sector. Alongside L'Oréal is the fine sheet metal company Delhez, located in Thimister-Clermont.
Organised by the Agence du Numérique in the context of Digital Wallonia, the Factory of the Future Awards aim to promote pioneering and exemplary companies in their transformation towards Industry 4.0. The selected factories have to pass a very strict audit.
"Digital transformation has always been a real goal for the factory and the L'Oréal Group, so we can maximise the safety of our employees, the quality of our products and the environment. This label is great recognition of the expertise and mobilisation of our teams," according to Laurent Mercenier, site manager of L'Oréal Libramont.
Located in Libramont since 1975, the Belgian factory of the L'Oréal Group, which employs 400 people, specialises in hair colouring and haircare products for the European consumer market.
Every year, L'Oréal Libramont makes investments to improve its production processes so that it can remain competitive and generate jobs for the region. A benchmark site for the Group, the plant has installed remote-controlled machines to move pallets, robots and connected applications to facilitate the work of the teams, and a sludge drying chamber to reduce its waste.
