The project for a new restaurant on the site of Amée beach (Namur) on the banks of the Meuse will be presented soon at the MIPIM Fair (Marché International des Professionnels de l’Immobilier - International Real Estate Fair for Professionals) in Cannes. This restaurant will be completed with a hotel floating on the water resembling "floating rooms", moored to a landing stage.
"These will be catamarans powered by solar energy, about ten metres long and two or three metres wide, with a bedroom, shower, interior lounge and exterior lounge" explains the manager of La plage d’Amée restaurant, Benoît Gersdorff "At night, the room is moored to the landing stage. But, in the morning, customers will be able to enjoy breakfast as they sail along the Meuse."
This floating hotel should be created within the next few years after the current building on Amée beach, which is particularly energy-intensive, has been replaced with a passive building.
The plans have been entrusted to the architect Patrick Genard, who designed the Belgian pavilion at the Universal Exhibition in Milan.
The new restaurant will also be extended by an urban vegetable garden combining techniques that use earth as well as aquaponics and hydroponics.
The plans for the project were presented to international investors gathered together in Cannes on 14 to 16 March.
