The broadcasting rights for the Belgian French language series have just been acquired by AMC Networks.
Banijay Rights has announced the sale of these rights to the AMC Networks group’s video-on-demand platform Sundance Now. After La Trêve (The Truce), it’s now the turn of thriller Public Enemy to be exported to the United States.
Launched in 2014, the Sundance Now platform is dedicated to documentaries, TV series and award-winning films.
Public Enemy was created by Antoine Bours, Gilles de Voghel, Matthieu Frances and Christopher Yates and launched on the television channel La Une (RTBF) on 1 May 2016. Public Enemy tells the story of Guy Béranger (Angelo Bison), public enemy number one, who after having been released on parole seeks refuge with the monks of the abbey of Vielsart, a peaceful little village in the Ardennes. He is placed under the protection of Chloé Muller (Stéphanie Blanchoud), a young inspector in the federal police, who is convinced that sooner or later, the former criminal will re-offend. And when everything finally seems to settle down, the police learn of the worrying disappearance of a young girl in the village…
Public Enemy is produced by Entre Chien et Loup and Playtime Films in joint production with RTBF, Proximus and with the support of the Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles, CasaKafka Pictures and Wallimage-Bruxellimage. The series is distributed abroad by Banijay International Zodiak Rights.
