The official launch for EquisFair, the new Walloon cluster for the equestrian sector, took place on 5 February 2019.
With 2,200 stakeholders, 131,000 horses in Wallonia and 6,600 direct and indirect jobs the equestrian sector generates just over 1 billion euros per year. Suffice to say, it's an important sector.
The objective of this new cluster is to support the emergence and development of partnerships in the different fields of activity that operate around the horse.
In order to achieve its objective, EquisFair wants to position companies in a competitive environment, develop and make existing networks more professional and create a brand image that promotes quality, innovation and synergy.
To do so, five strategic priorities will be developed nationally and internationally:
- Structure the equestrian sector in Wallonia and develop activities fostering discussions.
- Promote the resources and the development opportunities in the Walloon Region.
- Exploit international market opportunities, especially with high added-value products.
- Increase interactions with the biotechnology and mechanical engineering sectors to develop and invest in projects in the Vet-tech field.
- Develop international partnerships and encourage foreign investment in the Walloon Region.
Since its creation, EquisFair has already participated in "The Asia Horse Week" in Hong Kong and plans to take part in other international events such as the Fieracavalli in Verona and the CHIO in Aachen in 2019.
