Takeda gives herself a beautiful birthday present to celebrate the 50th anniversary of her site in Lessines. The Japanese pharmaceutical group is investing €300 million in its plant in Wallonia, which will have a new production line to manufacture therapies derived from plasma. Therapies available to patients with a lack of immunity or rare diseases. The pharma giant, which relies heavily on technological advances and respect for the environment, also announces the construction of a fully automated zero-carbon warehouse.

Takeda Belgium, which employs more than 1,200 people, is the third production site of the group after Japan and the United States and will be the first to reuse 90% of its wastewater by 2023. It will also be fully self-sufficient in electricity.

The investment will also help increase the digitization of the group’s plants, for which innovation is a key factor in creating a sustainable production environment.
